Experience and Teacher Training

Cassandra has taught private violin students aged four to adult, most recently at the Bermuda School of Music (BSM) in Hamilton, Bermuda. She has supported her students in preparations for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams as well as Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams, which they have passed with Honours. At the BSM Cassandra also led and conducted the intermediate string orchestra, led Suzuki group violin classes, and taught group violin classes in pubic and private schools. In Toronto, Cassandra coached violin sectionals at the Thomastik-Infeld Canadian String Orchestra, part of MusicFest Canada.

Cassandra received her teacher training at the Violin and Viola Teacher’s Retreat at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University under the tutelage of Mimi Zweig, and is trained in the Suzuki method having studied with Suzuki teacher trainers Jenna Potts and Mark Mutter.

Approach to Teaching

In her approach to teaching Cassandra draws on her performance experience, formal education, teacher training, and her own continued study of music and performance mindset practices. Cassandra is a teacher with a sensitivity towards each student’s unique makeup and needs. Through the curation of a personalized program she works to approach each student in a way that will best serve them in their learning of and through the violin. Cassandra has experienced her own study of music to offer infinite opportunities for artistic and personal growth and understanding. Her pedagogical approach invites, guides, and encourages students to experience this for themselves in their own musical studies.
